This pizza is incredible. We went on a Wednesday at around 7:30 and there was no wait (though it was pretty busy). The deep dish takes a while, but it's worth waiting for. Our group tried the Little Star, the Pesto Chicken, and the Meateor all as deep dish pizzas, and oh my god were they delicious. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Little Star, despite the fact that it's meatless! We also tried the spicy chicken wings, which were solid though they were pretty mild. I wish we'd tried one of the pizzas as a thin crust pizza-- the thin crusts on the other tables looked really good, but I was incredibly satisfied with our deep dish extravaganza. I guess I'll have to come back to try more! :)

Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!! The hype is real. Little Star Pizza is a shining beacon of hope in San Francisco's pie world. I came here with some seasoned regulars, who ordered the spicy chicken wings (which are a bit dry but come with blue cheese sauce) and two thin cornmeal crust pizzas to share. I can't speak for the deep dish, but the thin crust pizzas are so. damn. good. I can't get over how flavorful the cheese is?! And garlic olive oil base is brilliant. Little Star truly takes pizza to another level -- one that does SF proud! Even the New Yorker at the table agreed.

My friends from the Golden Gate City advise that there at two Chicago style deep dish pizza restaurants that I must try if I'm in Northern CA. One is Patxi's and the other being Little Star. From the rumorville, Patxi's has the better sauce on top, while Little Star has the better crust on the bottom. THE SLICE IS RIGHT I ordered the smaller 9 inch size, rather than the larger 12 inch, knowing very well that these deep dish pizzas make your stomach quite full. One half of the Classic and the other fifty percent as the Little Star. It takes about 25 minutes to prepare. The Classic contains sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green bells. The Little Star has spinach blended with ricotta and feta, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. I'll make sure to add sausage to the Little Star next time, but more on that later. I pretentiously favored the Classic, given that it had the combination of toppings that I liked. But, the side that contained the Little Star was far superior. Probably because of the salty and tangy taste of the different cheeses that the other half lacked. For not having any meat topping whatsoever, it was quite scrumptious. The crust felt rather delicate, yet crisp with a flaky quality. Just the right amount of lightly sweet tomato sauce and seasoning. I normally don't enjoy deep dish pizzas that are super thick and bready, when it's so hard to chew because there's so much of the cornmeal crust. This however, was different. For those of you that's had the deep dish pizza crust at Masa of Echo Park in Southern CA, this version is way, way better. If you're gonna have the Deep Dish, you gotta try the Thin Crust, right? I also heard that the Spicy Chicken Wings are worth a valiant effort, as well as the Cheesecake for dessert. Here's a link to their online website, in case you want to window shop their everyday menu. ( littlestarpizza.com/inde… ) THE HIDDEN MENU Two pies that are absent from the usual are - the Brass Monkey & the Abba Zabba (aka the Half Baked). Remember, how I said that I'd add sausage to the Little Star pizza? Well, that's the Brass Monkey. Almost like a lasagna, but not soggy. The Abba Zabba is any pie that's half cooked and then thrown into a TO GO box. At home, you cook it for another 25 minutes until it's ready to be served.

I'm not a fan of pizza but WOW. We were in the neighborhood and decided to try little star. Parking took a few mins to find, all metered street parking. When we walked up, the place was packed! The waiting area was crowded and all tables were taken. Because it's so packed it can get quite noisy inside. I'm not surprised such a high rating and reviewed place has quite the wait. So be prepared for that. We weren't willing to wait so we ordered the little star to go. They freshly bake each pizza as they're ordered. So if you're planning on taking out you should call in advance and when dining in, expect to wait 30 mins for your pizza. It came out real hot. Too bad we had to drive back to East Bay. By the time we sat down to eat the pizza, it wasn't piping hot but still decently hot. Now the little star is a deep dish pizza with spinach, feta, ricotta, mushrooms, onions and garlic. The edge of the crust is nice and crispy while the inside was fluffy. The toppings on top were delicious. The combination of everything was just heavenly. I will definitely return to dine in and try some other combinations.

The service was exceptional. No more than a 10 minute wait. Our group included 5 people. 2 kids, 3 adults. The waitresses and waiters and very kind. When I received my food, it was DELICIOUS. I was in love with the cornbread crust of the deep dish pizza. No complaints. Very Good!!

Little Star is a popular pizza place everyone raves about on Divisadero. It is sort of like Chicago/New York Pizzerria meets San Francisco Wine Bar. It has a darker, neutral grey colored decor, with 2 rows of tables and a bar in the back right. They have a decent list of wines, listed on the chalk board at the end of the bar. Whites, Reds, Draft Beers, bottled beers. The pizza can be deep dish a la The Windy City, or thin crust a la Big Apple. The combos are fairly unique and have good ingredients, more for the foodie than the little league team. I had a small Greek pizza, that had sun-dried tomatoes, feta, olives, roasted garlic for $19. I helped to wash that down with a decent Malbec, normally $7.75 but I think I got the HH price of $6. Not sure if it was French or Argentina, but my guess is Argentina. Which was my small gesture of support for their loss in the World Cup finals today. The total was about $27. I couldn't finish the small pizza, as it was more of a medium size, with a nice thin crust, good ingredients, and stringy, melted cheese, but in a thin way, not an unmanageable thick gooey mess. So I took home a few slices. Parking is a b*tch on the city streets, so a lot of neighborhood types, and a few lucky parkers. The City lifted the Sunday Parking meters from activity, thank heaven those greedy city council types went too far with that one, which helps. I think it will help businesses in the City on Sundays too. Little Star is a Little Star. Good food, but think of it as a Wine Bar with good casual food, rather than a pizza place for your sports team. The prices will fit the former, not the latter.

I was in SF on business and decided to try another highly rated Yelp restaurant. Once again it did not disappoint. The pizza was good and the atmosphere was lively. The staff was very friendly and checked in frequently even though they were packed.

I like their pizza here, but I'm going with a 1 star because the waiter was pretty rude. I joined a group of friends and he said "I never do this, but I'll make an exception this one time." What, to join a table? I could have just walked in and sat down and taken one. The place was empty and nobody was sitting in any of the other nearby tables. Anyway, when the meal was done, I had a slice of pizza where only the crust was left. He asked if I needed a box and I said no thanks. Then he told me I should get a box to go and give my pizza crust to a homeless person. What? Who's going to want my pre-eaten pizza with just the crust left? Come on man. So he insisted on this and brought the box out. I'm all about helping out the homeless, but I can't in good conscience go around offering someone just the crust for a single slice of my already eaten pizza.

Told us our table was ready, so we herded all 10 people over from drinking at Fly Bar, only to find that it wasn't ready. Weird, but I guess they want everyone there so they can seat you? order deep dish when you put your name in so it's ready when you are seated. The pizza is of course really good, and our server was really nice about adding two additional people halfway through the meal to an already cramped table. this and patxi's are deep dish pizza staples!

Not quite sure why this place has such high reviews. We went here tonight with high expectations. My wife and I ordered the chicken wings which were very spicy and came with the blue cheese dipping sauce. We asked for ranch and they don't carry ranch. What kind of pizza place does not carry ranch dressing? Next we ordered a deep dish small pizza and asked for no mushrooms. The pizza came out and It had mushrooms on it. The crust was hard and the pizza just lacked flavor. If you're craving good pizza I would definitely not recommend this place. Plus it is extremely pricey for the low quality of food that you get.

LOVED IT! This is one delicious spot. Thanks Yelp for sending me straight to good eats. We went here late after seeing Daniel Tosh and all we kept smelling was pizza at nearby joints. We ordered a small deep dish with tomato, onion and spinach. The pizza came piping hot and all the ingredients were amazing. The mozz was so cheesy and delicious. It had an awesome flavor. We also ordered as an app the garlic bread. Needless to say, we didn't take anything back to the hotel. The ambiance was cool, good music and the staff were really nice. Pro Tip: A small pizza is enough for 2 to share. All in all, a 5 star experience and I can't wait to go back!

Little Star was really good but I don't think I could eat this more than once. We had the deep dish special with sausage and ricotta and it was delicious. Fruity tomato sauce, flavorful sausage and the best crust I've ever had on deep dish. I don't know how they get it to crisp so much. The downside is it's incredibly heavy and more lasagna feeling than pizza. I'm a New York pizza girl but I'm glad I tried it.

My confession: I fully rejected the idea of coming to Little Star Pizza when I heard they specialize in deep dish pizza. I turned my nose up at the thought that the great reviews were accurate. I wanted to scream "no way!" when a friend suggested coming here for dinner, but I decided to be polite and cave in. My revelation: Wow, every deep dish pizza I've ever had elsewhere has always been a sloppy soggy mess -- but not at Little Star. This pizza was actually really great. What makes this pizza stand out is that the crust. It's phenomenal. It's not doughy, undercooked, and disgustingly soggy. It is in fact excellent. It is crisp and delicious and holds the toppings in-tact. It has made me a convert. The thin crust pizza was thicker than I normally like but I enjoyed it as well. Little Star does it right. My experience: Mind blown and rash opinions disproved. $40 for two small pizzas (and two sodas) split across three of us. We had the deep dish Brassmonkey (Little Star Pizza + Sausage) and a thin crust White Pizza. This proved to be a perfect amount of food.

Little star is always a good idea. The classic deep dish is some serious business, one of the best pizzas in the neighborhood. People are particular about how they like their pizza. The deep dish is layered in cheese, tomatoes, bell pepper, sausage and onion. The crust is a golden corn meal brushed with either butter or olive oil, I'm not sure what. I can see why some people might not like it as much as other types. One things for sure, it's unique. I mostly get take out but I have dined inside the establishment a few times. They have great salads, great drink selections and a great atmosphere. They also have a kids pizza, it might not be on the online menu but they have one. It's small but kids like it. For locations perfect for takeout if you live in the neighborhood. It's fast and delicious, call ahead and pick up. Life is good.

I feel like im supposed to love this place cuz its ridiculously yelpy. I give it a 3.5. I realized that I am not a deep dish kind of gal. I literally feel like Im just eating tomatoes on top of bread and cant even taste the fixings. Seven of us split two pizzas, wings, and the garlic bread. The cool thing about this place is that while you are waiting, they will place your order and they will time it so when you finally get seated, the pizza should come out fairly shortly after. That is efficiency at its finest but likely you will be waiting 45 minutes on a weekend night. There are bars around while you wait. Parking can be tough but you just gotta search for days. Classic - Sausage, mushrooms, onions, green bells. Like I said before, with all the sauce, I didnt even taste the toppings. Little Star - Spinach blended with ricotta and feta, mushrooms, onions, garlic. I could see the spinach and definitely tasted the feta but meh. Chicken Wings- These tasted weird. They were a bit spicy and something about it...couldnt put my finger on it but something was off....the skin tasted fake? I derno Garlic bread- This was pretty much cheese bread. Barely tasted any garlic and it was just like a slice of cheese pizza. This place is alright but it seemed like a lot of people were getting the thing slice pizzas. I do admit that the crust is bomb and crunchy and fried haha.

Disclaimer: ONLY for thin crust pizza. Sadly...I'm not a fan of deep dish :( Which, I know, is NOT their speciality, but hey. I wanted good pizza. I've had the Italian Combo, Pesto Chicken, and Meateor. I must say, this is what I would call comfort pizza. My favorite would have to be the Italian Combo - only because I added sun-dried tomatoes. I mean...who wouldn't?! They don't really skimp on toppings, not too greasy, and a pretty good size. You can do half and half for extra charge and add whatever toppings you'd like for another extra charge. Worth it in my opinion! Pretty damn good pizza ... and I know my pizza. I like the comfort-feel of it and the fact that it was hearty, yet not dripping with grease making you feel extremely bad about eating it. Cozy little place to eat if you choose to! You can drink at the bar while you wait for a table. Overall, I really like this place!! Reviews say deep dish is the way to go, but if you're not a fan, their thin crust is still really really good.

So so so delicious and worth it! Even though it is known for deep dish, the thin crust is also solid. I came in a group of 4 and we split a Little Star and a thin crust special of the day, which was basically like the Pesto Chicken but it also had some bacon (bonus!) on it. I was surprised to find I loved the thin crust more! Can't wait to come back. Great for sharing and large groups, and even for taking home.

My friend and I called in our order for pick up. We ordered the deep dish pizza and it was amazing. The pizza was hot and fresh when we got it home. I could eat this every night and be happy. (If I didn't end up weighing 500 pounds that is) Quality is excellent and you get good portions for what you pay for. The pizza took a reasonable amount of time and when we walked over it was easy to pay for and pick up. This is a great option for grabbing pizza to eat at home. I would love to dine in next time though to see that that is like as well.

Always wanted to come here after recommendations from my coworkers and housemate. And I'm glad I had an opportunity to try it out. As a party of 2, we were seated within 15 minutes and we ordered the following: - Small Half And Half Deep Dish Pizza (1/2 Classic + pepperoni and 1/2 Brass Monkey aka Little Star + sausage) - Spicy Chicken Wings The pizza was the star of the show. I've had deep dish pizzas in Chicago (i.e. Lou Malnati's and Giordano's) and I have to say, this blew those away. There's something about the corn meal crust that adds a great flavor and feels a bit lighter. The brass monkey was enjoyable, as the combination of fixins felt very reminiscent of lasagna. The Classic was my FAVE! The texture and flavor combinations of the meat with green pepper, mushrooms and onions were delicious! In conclusion...Little Star is packed with Big Star flavor!

The deep dish pizzas here are amazing. I've tried the classic deep dish pizza and the meatero thin crust pizza, they're freshly made and with the perfect ratio of meat to cheese to crust. FYI there's a 30 minute wait for deep dish pizzas, so I recommend placing an order as soon as you're placed on the waiting list for a table. Service is good-the servers are fast and attentive.

Recently tried out Little star based on the great reviews, and I'm so glad that it lived up to expectations and that I've found myself some awesome deep dish pizza in SF! The service: Front start to finish, the service on my trip was flawless. Welcoming hostess plus a waiter than never let our glasses be empty and always with recommendations made for an awesome trip. With their apparent success, it would be easy to let this fall to the wayside, but they haven't! Food: We got the garlic bread to start based on recommendation. It was as good as described and pretty huge actually. My only issue with it was that it was a little similar to the pizza, which was what was coming next, so I felt a little like we ordered two of the same thing. Not their fault and it was definitely good, but just something to keep in mind. For pizza, my fiancee and I shared the Little Star deep dish (Duh! How could we not get their titled pizza on our first visit?!). It was everything we had hoped it would be and more! The ingredients were all clearly fresh and it was packed. One small was definitely enough for two medium hungry people. We had leftovers too! It was a little greasy, but hey, it's pizza! Can't expect completely healthy. There were pretty few options on the menu, which I think is a sign of a good restaurant that knows what it does well. Atmosphere: Super SF-y. Fairly small, a little dark, and very hipster. I dug it! They had curtains I assume to help keep the noise a little lower, which I thought worked well. Overall: I was super stoked after my visit to LS. From service to food it was spot on. The price was appropriate for what you get and the whole vibe was great. I can't wait to come by again! My only complaint is that I'm just outside the delivery territory (although to be fair, it is through an outside service, so not their fault). I'll just have to wait a little longer to get my deep dish fix!

With over 2,000 reviews I'm sure I can't contribute something that someone else has not already said. We arrived about 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and they were gracious about taking our pizza order. Drinks were served and we waited. After a while out came this pizza with a 2.5 inch crust filled to overflowing with fixings. It was delicious that night as well as for breakfast the next morning. Word to the wise--------------come hungry.

Once again, this place stands the test of time. Ordered my togo order via Postmates to arrive prior to turning on some Steel Magnolias with a southern friend whilst we imbibed enough wine to kill a small mammal. The order consisted of a large caprese, spicy chicken wings, and the classic deep dish, add pepperoni. Guzzled a few bottles of Groth with it. The pizza: not for beginners. It's cornmeal crusted, toasted to a perfect golden suppleness. Piled onto it is boatloads of cheese, sausage, onions. Topped with a rich and hearty tomato sauce that is decadent, perfect. I add to it some lovely spicy pepperoni slices for added mouth explosion. This review is kind of turning me on. I think I have a problem with my addiction. Clearly. The service inside is always on point, their beer is always a great selection, and I can't describe how much I look forward to making another order. No other pizza I've encountered in the world compares to that of little star. Sorry Chicago.

Now, that's a deep dish pizza. From start to finish Little Star did not disappoint. All of your sense will tingle with excitement throughout your visit! Little Star is rocking an old school jukebox that plays tunes that make you say, "OMG do you remember this one?" Your taste buds will be tickled not only by the taste of your pizza, from the sauce to the fresh mozzarella, there will be a sweet symphony of flavors in your mouth that only a bite of pizza can explain. (If it's on the menu get the meatball pizza and add artichokes!) Little Star offers and makes specialty champagne drinks, that can only be explained as amazing. Take into consideration, too, these drinks don't come in a flute, they arrive in beer glasses! And to top off the last two senses, the artwork needs to be mentioned. The artwork is done by a local artists, and I am sure you can purchase any of this work if you see something that really sicks out. Try to hit this place during lunch, you will have the whole restaurant to yourself. Plus, you can get a little nap in after you devour your deep dish pizza. I cannot wait until I visit Little Star Pizza again, until then I will just dream about that pizza.

They have some of the best pizza I've ever had, deep dish or otherwise. The cornmeal crust is delicious and unique. Baked perfectly so it's a bit crispy on the outside but a little bit soft in the middle without being mushy. The toppings are always fresh and just the right amount. All of their ingredients are fresh for that matter and top quality. I usually order takeout and it's a 30 minute to an hour wait time. They are always busy! So definitely go ahead and order as early as you can. I've eaten in once or twice and the atmosphere was great though the service was not top notch. Not bad either, but definitely something to work on if they want more people to eat in and spend some more on their great beer list! They have a veggie option and will make it without cheese upon request. They generally let you substitute one topping free of charge. It's a little pricey at $30 for a large, but compared to the "cheap" pizzas around here which run at only about $10 less, it's well worth the extra $ for top notch taste and quality.

Best pizza we have had since moving to California ! Great sauce, great cheese! We go the thin crust and were blown away! Their happy hour was excellent we got two beers and some appetizers that were very tasty. The spicy wings were an interesting flavor but good. The garlic bread was really good! Totally willing to travel into the city for this pizza!!

Where do I begin? Waited an hour before the waiter came by to tell us our pizza would take an additional 30 min. Why? The kitchen didn't get the order and it was sent to the bar instead. We then get offered $3 off. Uh I just waited 90 min for a sub par pizza. F*** you Little Star! AVOID!

Little star has been in my bookmarks for some time. When the roommate said he was craving pizza, I suggested Little star. Finally, I get to try their pizza! I know they're known for their deep dish, but I wasn't in a deep dish kind mood, so we stuck to their thin crust pizzas. We got take out of the following: Spicy chicken wings ($11.50) - Pound of wings served with baby carrots & blue cheese dressing. I was expecting the usual buffalo wings, but I was pleasantly surprised. The wings were juicy, crunchy and had a nice little kick. Half White pie & half Pesto chicken ($19.50 for a small 12") - I couldn't decide which pizza I wanted, so I went for the half and half. The White pie ($19.25 for a small 12") came with a garlic infused olive oil base, roasted zucchini, fresh tomatoes & feta. The Pesto chicken ($19.50 for a small 12") came with a pesto base, roasted chicken, roasted red peppers, mushrooms & onions. Being the carnivore that I am, I was surprised that I liked the White pie the best. The zucchini, tomatoes and feta made it very simple and delicious. And I loved the garlic olive oil base. I enjoyed the Chicken pesto as well. Who can go wrong with chicken and pesto sauce?! But I could have done w/o the roasted red peppers. I felt like the pesto, chicken, mushrooms & onions already made it a good slice. The peppers seemed out of place. Meateor ($19.50 for a small 19") - Sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms & onions. This was the roommate's pizza. He loves meat pizzas so this was perfect for him! I love a good pepperoni & mushroom pizza, so I'm glad he picked this one so I could have a slice! I loved the quality of the toppings and pizza, but this one suffered since I got it for take out. It wasn't hot and melty like it should have been. Who wants lukewarm meat and cheese?! I'd love to come back and try their deep dish pizzas. Would probably go for another half and half so I can try more things!

We came here exhausted and a little burnt out after attending a wedding in Sonoma and driving back to San Fran the next day for one last night in town before our flight back to Cleveland. The whole trip was pretty whirlwind and we really just needed food at this point. I had gone on a walk while my husband napped, but nothing was really catching my eye, so we headed out in the opposite direction for dinner and stumbled across this little joint. I can't wait to come back! We started with the mixed salad for three of us and it was perfect. I honestly could have just eaten that whole bowl of salad and been happy. After a weekend of vacation and celebrations, some greens were necessary. But when the pizza came, I knew that there was no way to come here for salad only. Seriously. We got the little star pizza, because how could we resist on our first visit? It only seemed right. The spinach and feta were creamy and delicious, as were the mushrooms. I'm not the hugest fan of deep dish pizza, but this was pretty amazing. I think I enjoyed this more than the deep dish pizza I had while visiting Chicago. I can't wait to come back and perhaps try their thin crust, though. I'm a sucker for a good thin crust.

Little star is good, but I am surprised at how much love it gets. I guess being a Midwesterner, I have high expectations for my deep dish pizza. My biggest frustration w little star is the fact that I think their "specialty pies" don't have the best flavor combos. They kinda seem to throw a bunch of common things together, but none of them are particularly compelling to me. Also, I always try to balance flavors (so pair a salty topping with a sweet or spicy or sour topping) and they don't really seem to do that as much here. Creating your own topping combos gets really expensive! Anyways, if you're looking for a hearty Chicago style deep dish- def check it out. Staff is nice and friendly and while you wait, you can put an order in for your deep dish so that you're not waiting too long :)

Very good for both deep-dish and thin crust pizza. Deep dish is the closest I've tasted to Chicago pizza outside of Chicago (just needs those long links of sausage instead of the bits) though a bit heavy for regular pizza night. Thin crust is delicious for traditional pepperoni - just not many interesting pizzas. Also wish they had a better salad/appetizer selection. Sometimes you need some greens with your pizza and nothing on their salad menu is that exciting.

Dark and cozy space that's deliciously comforting or sexy/dark depending on the time of day or night you're there. Time stands still but for the wood-fired ovens that churn out either deep-dish or thin-crust pizza from 12-10/11 weekends, 5-10pm weekdays. We chose the olive oil/cornmeal thin crust and made it half 'n' half; Meateor (sausage, pepperoni, mushroom and onion) and the White pizza (juicy halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced zucchini with mozzarella and a sprinkling of goat cheese). (Play on words: they should offer the "Neateor" with tofu, spinach, garlic & shallots- who's with me?) Both our halves were delicious and complementary: One was light and lemon- y and the Meateor, delicious and filling with generous helpings of sausage and pepperoni. I particularly liked the smoky taste of the white onion grilled in a wood-fire oven. They had a couple choices of hip beer on tap; I didn't notice if they had wine. Photos of their Caprese salad look insanely good so I may have that as an add-on next time. It's good to finally try this nearly legendary spot that's just a few blocks from my home. "About time!" people would say.

Surprisingly the simplistic mixed green salad is very good. It's so lite and simple and tasty with the Gorgonzola. 4 stars We got the Little Star Pizza, it was a solidly good pizza. The cornmeal crust was really good. We got a small. It was enough for two people. 4 stars The service could have been better. The waitress only came back nice towards the end of the meal to see how we were. 3 stars

Food: 4.5 stars Price: 4.5 stars Service/Atmosphere: 4.5 stars I'm rounding up here and giving five stars to this pizzeria because that deep dish was the best darn pizza I've had in over a decade. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars across the board is I'm leaving room for something more gourmet however I suspect that's just stupid because it's difficult to imagine anything better. Sure I have a soft spot for deep dish and yes, we didn't order anything else but, since eating there, I can't stop thinking about my next visit and if I will be able to pry myself away from the exact same meal and order something different. We ordered the "Little Star" deep dish which is a vegetarian option with spinach, blended ricotta and feta, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. I had a number of concerns, which were all misplaced! I was worried that the mushrooms would be soggy and overpowering but they had been thinly sliced, pre-cooked, really just the perfect note. I was expecting the spinach, cheese and onions mixture to be wet and stringy but again, it was expertly balanced and my leftovers didn't show the slightest signs of sog. I contemplated what the addition of meat would bring to such a meal and the answer is not a thing. Much like the coveted Taqueria Cancun burrito, the vegetarian version is supreme. The 9" pie provided enough food for two people and leftovers for the next day. We also ordered a small salad, a couple glasses of wine and dulce de leche gelato, which hit the spot nicely and didn't leave a hole in our wallets. To sum, this is the ideal little pizza place. Fast service, great prices, high-quality ingredients and a nice selection of beer and wine. Yum yum, nom nom, heck yes and when can we go back? PRO TIP: Leftovers heat up well in the toaster oven! PRO TIP: Everything tastes better with a fried egg on top (breakfast pizza anyone?).

What else can really be said!? This is some of the best deep dish I've ever had. I highly recommend going with more than you think you're going to eat. It might be even better reheated a few days later! Mmmmmm

Upon arriving, I was told the pizza would take up to 30 min. My response: YES, IT SHOULD. I am from Italy. Good pizza, as in proper & effortlessly delicious, must take a vero pizzaiolo's time and attention. How much faster can a pizzaiolo knead the dough into the right thickness, ladle the perfect amount of "sugo" so the end result is neither soggy nor dry, and slide the pizza with the halo of crust into a well-fed brick oven? Well, I don't know if that's what they do. But when you're told that a soufflé must be ordered in anticipation, you're receiving pillowy and piping peauty (for the sake of alliteration). The deep-dish pizza was no different! Hot and ready, like me at the table. The art shows in how wonderfully crusty the crust was. Don't know what I mean? The bottom and sides of the deep-dish were golden and toasted to a delightful crunch, while the "sugo" permeated the middle and ridges of the pizza making softer, doughy, yet cooked, goodness. Timing and precise oven temperature created the harmonious two-toned textures that entered my body. Service? Our server facilitated our dinner. Extremely attentive and minimally intrusive. With great company and so much of my attention divested into the tantric red moon on our table, I would have shooed at her with my paws. Deep-dish pizza at Little Star is an experience much appreciated from outside the borders of the Boot. Utterly excellent.

The servers were really friendly and the wait time is not too long. While we wait, the hostess asked if we want to put in the order for a deep dish pizza since it takes bout 20 mins to make so once we get a table, it will be ready faster for us. We ordered the small half and half deep dish (half pesto chicken and half classic) but they gave us the half Mediterranean and half classic. They switched our order with another table. The couple next to us got our order and we got their order. The server offered to make another small pesto chicken for us and the small Mediterranean for the couple on a thin crust instead. The kitchen made an extra large pesto chicken on a thin crust so the server gave it to us instead. Even though it's the wrong order, they fixed it right away which is a major plus. The Mediterranean was a bit bland to me or maybe because all I taste was the tomato sauce. I love the pesto chicken. You can taste the pesto and the garlic; plus the chicken is not too dry because usually the chicken gets a bit dry in pizza. If you love meat, the classic pizza is a good choice.

We came around 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was packed. It was a 45 minute to 1 hour wait, and they ask for your number so they can contact you if you want to wander around. We decided to just wait on their couches and about 40 minutes later we were seated at the bar. The bar seating is decently roomy and the plus side is fast service / drinks. We ordered the garlic bread and customized our own thin crust pizza. The garlic bread was basically like a small cheese pizza and extremely tasty. The custom thin crust pizza had cheese, garlic and olive oil base, pesto, and chicken. Everything tasted fresh although garlic bread + large thin crust pizza was too much for 2 people. If you want to order garlic bread, I'd recommend ordering small thin crust pizza.

I came in around 2pm when it was a bit empty. Thankfully. My party and I ordered a thin crust small pizza with half Italian combo and half special. I don't recall what is in the special, but it was on the side with a lemon. The pizza took roughly 10-15 minutes to get served after placing the order. The crust was crisp and not too heavy. The ingredients went together pretty well and the lemon juice took my slice of pizza to the next level. The special is not on the menu. so it might be different each time. I think there was also goat cheese in the special pizza. I'd definitely return for more.

So it seems San Francisco has numerous pizza options on hand for any crusty adventurer. I was curious to try out this deep dish spot as soon as I'd heard about it from my roommate. I'll say off he bat that I wasn't disappointed. The cornmeal crust of the deep dish was light and amazing, but still thick enough to to control the whole goodness that was the meat and cheese inside. We started out with 3 orders of the wings for 6 people, which might seem ambitious for some but really was just enough to ignite our appreciate before digging into three pizzas. We ordered two thin crust and one deep dish, and while the thin crust was good I personally wasn't the biggest fan of it. Some might also not be into tomatoes, and to those I'd suggest not long for the deep dish. Overall I'll def be back and this is a great spot to check out with friends. Little star is good by me!

TL;DR Great deep dish pizza place. Ask about the special of the day. Can have different toppings on different halves. Order ahead for deep dish (takes about 40 min). Small: 2 people, large: 4 people. --- I was out with AT and some of our friends and decided to have some pizza. And when you're in Lower Haight, of course you want to go to Little Star. One in our group was vegetarian, so we weren't sure if we would have to do a full vegetarian pizza. Lo' and behold, Little Star was able to do half-and-half. We ordered a large pizza with half Mediterranean chicken, half vegetarian. Note: small-good for 2 people; large (8 pieces)-good for 4 people. Of course we decided to order ahead, since we knew deep dish pizzas take a while to bake. The estimated time was something like 40-45 min. In the meantime, we checked out some of the shops on Divis. We arrived just before the estimate window, and were seated anyways. Note that the interior is small, so you may not be able to get a table without waiting (unless you're lucky like we were). Upon being seated, we were asked if we were interested in the daily special, which sounded amazing. Unfortunately, we had already ordered and our pizza was probably just about ready by that point. So make sure to ask about the special, even if ordering ahead! All in all, one of my favorite pizza places ever.

This place was great! I really really enjoyed my time here at Little Star Pizza. When we first entered the place, I was prepared to wait a long time because I have been to the one in Berkeley. Its been around 2 years since. The wait was not very long if you prefer to stay at the bar. When we waited they suggested us to look at the menu and order while we wait because it takes about 30 minutes to make the pizza. We decided to customize our order and have a small size. THE SMALL IS GOOD FOR 2 PEOPLE... expect to not have any leftovers. The bartender was very attentive and courteous. She gave us water right away and asked if we wanted to order appetizers. We said no but bought a bottle of wine. The bartender wasn't really knowledgeable with the pinot grigio so she offered to let us try it before we bought the bottle, which was such a perfect idea. It was like a little mini wine testing. haha. But we ended up buying the pinot grigio. It tasted delicious! Our customized pizza had: 1.)Salami 2.)Fried garlic 3.)Pesto 4.) 1 side mushrooms because my boy hates mushrooms. lol 5.) I forgot... sorry... lol but i know we had 5. It was the BEST COMBINATION EVER!!! Little Star should make this a dish because right when we took our first bite all we said was... "OMG.." simultaneously.. lol Anyway, Just come here.. its really really good... and I don't even like pizza.

I really like this place. This was my first time at this location, but I dined at the Mission restaurant a few months ago and only had good memories. There was quite the wait on a weekend night, so we went across the street for some drinks before returning. They easily accommodated our party of 8 and we pre-ordered our pizzas so that they were ready shortly after we sat down. No complaints, great pizza place.

As I grow older, my love for simple foods like pizza continues to grow. When I was little, I didn't really care for it, but now I'm just in love. This was my first official time eating deep dish pizza (first time didn't count because it was cold and flat from elsewhere). All I can say is WOW. My friend and I split the 9" Little Star Deep Dish Pizza (Spinach blended with ricotta and feta, mushrooms, onions, and garlic) and it was more than enough for the both of us. It costs $19.50 and takes about half an hour to make. It is definitely worth the wait. I just want abs....olutely all the bread in the world. For those who love those carbs as much as I do, you will die with the first bite of your pizza. The crust is SO GOOD... I'm dreaming about it right now. You know your pizza is perfectly baked when it's crunchy and fluffy at the same time. The cheese, tomato sauce, and veggies (topped with chili flakes of course) blend together all so well. The atmosphere and ambiance is perfect for a date. Service is excellent. I will be back!

Pretty good. I came here on a friend's recommendation and tried their deepdish. We got a 12 inch cheese and added fresh mozz, meatball, and sausage. It was fantastic. I order from paxti's all the time, and I would say that the pizza here was on par, maybe better? I'll need to try some other toppings before I can make that determination fully. I will say though, that I loveddd the crust. It had a very cornbread-like consistency to it, which was very unique. The only thing was, the crust was quite thick. That's about my one and only complaint. Other than that, the service was great and the price was right. The place has a real dim romantic way about it. I kind of liked that as I came with my gf for a spur of the moment late dinner. There was no wait, and I got the best parking spot possible, right out front. But then again it was a monday night at 8:30pm. I would expect parking to be very difficult in this location during more peak days/hours. Bottom line: recommended. I hope you guys start delivering because then I wouldn't be able to stop myself..

This place is a who in the wall! I came to Frisco for vacation and this place was a must for my friend... This place is very simple in the inside. And you would never imagine that they would serve such good pizza! So let me begin with I eat pizza like never! Lol but whenever I go back to San Francisco I will most defenetly go to this place!! I got the thin crust chicken pesto pizza!!! It was yum yum!

It is pizza but AMAZING!! Server is amazing attentive but not annoying. Good selection of tap and bottle beer. The appetizer salad is good for two people. We have had the thin crust each time and it is great each time!! This time we split a pizza veggies on one side and meat on the other and the cooks worked hard to keep everything separate. So worth the stop. Great pizza and atmosphere.

I went here for my birthday meal last night, and let's just say I made a great decision. This place is definitely worth the wait (yes, expect there to be a line). The pizza here is oh so good- especially the White Pie (thin crust). This pizza is just fantastic! I normally only eat pizza with red sauce, but I was very impressed with the White Pie. It's simple, but very flavorful. The Little Star deep dish is really good as well, but surprisingly- I like the White Pie better. Normally, I would prefer deep dish over thin crust, but the White Pie completely won me over. Our server (Paul, I believe that's his name- hopefully I didn't get it wrong!) was incredibly friendly and very attentive. The place is warm and intimate- great dinner place all around. I will definitely be back! Ps. the salad here is good as well.

I just have to write a review on the best restaurants we visited while in san fran. .While this one isn't on guy fiore s list, it's one that was recommended by my husband's customer who moved to so cal from San fran. ..little star indeed..we circled the whole entire block looking for this spot! !but....it was worth it! Man I've never had a pizza like lasagna thick!!!! We ordered which I apologize forgetting the name but it's the locals favorite, ordered large size and we thought maybe it wouldn't be sufficient enough for four people cuz we're a family that can really chow down....oh hell no..This one was so thick and big that one slice will definitely fill you up!!no kidding! Plus a side order of their delicious salad...perfect dinner! !! Highly recommend! !!!! Very nice , very friendly and awesome pizza!!!!!

Really good traditional pizza. I had the "Meateor" which came out as good as most thin crust is. But it wasn't ultra-thin --which I prefer, hence the 4 stars not the fifth... Ate at the bar, excellent service and interesting conversations with both local customers and out-of-towner former locals who came back for the pizza. This is a very comfortable small local place that has great service and great food. The price is also very good, I had a small pizza, a really good salad and three ;-) beers for around $50. I spent far longer sitting at the bar than I expected to, and that was because there was really no reason to leave given the overall experience and the conversations. Great local place! I really would have given 5 stars if the pizza was in my preferred style (ultra thin with some blackened crust)... But they make it the way they want and it was really delicious!

Little Star was recommended by a colleague, and it certainly didn't disappoint! I'd say the deep dish is about as good as you'll find outside of Chicago. However, to me, it still doesn't compare to deep dish pizza from Chicago (there's just something about it... mmm...). I came by myself while on business, and was seated promptly. The service was pretty straightforward (I knew what I wanted when I walked in, and only had 45 minutes or so to order and eat) but helpful. The pizza itself was the best deep dish I've had in the Bay Area, and I ate THE ENTIRE THING! I'd definitely come back.

I use to drive every month to chicago, just to get a taste of their deepdish pizza. Since i moved here in the bay area, ive been in search for a place that would satisfy my craving. With the high rated reviews, yelp led me to Little Star. The wait time was around 30 mins, not bad for a friday night. We had to wait outside because the place was packed. Its nice that they have a txt system were you can check your wait status. We ordered Chicken wings which were nicely flavored but overcooked, the meat was left very dry. We ordered the classic deepdish, sauce was nicely flavored and meat was good, but crust was bland and hard. Chicago's deepdish crust is flavorful and flaky... Place was very loud! Will not be good for kids.

WARNING* finding parking to eat here fucking sucks. You better be handicap so you could get some decent parking or have a loading zone truck. It was hella busy for a Tuesday afternoon. The lighting was really dim inside and really loud. For appetizer we had the garlic bread which was hella good. I do recommend going there for that. Main course we had pesto chicken pizza thin. Had to say, pretty let down. I've been to the one in Albany and their pesto chicken is way better. Overall not too happy. Just glad I had that garlic bread.

Ooooooh man. Better movie-night food there is not. We ordered ahead of time for takeout since the place was very busy every night we had walked by since I got in town. There was some confusion as to which number to call for takeout versus for reservations, but the food trumped this slight inconvenience. We ordered a thin crust sausage pizza which was adequate, but didn't blow me away. The highlight came with the deep dish pan pizza. We got the plain cheese pan pizza and I have never been so delighted by a plain pizza. At first I thought they had made a mistake and forgotten to add cheese when, in fact, they had layered the chunky tomato sauce (which was more a thick chutney-style sauce full of large pieces of tomato) over the cheese. This was a game-changer! We all agreed that the pan pizza reigned supreme and we gobbled it down in minutes. I swear I blacked out to an empty pizza box. The salad we ordered was also pretty freakin' surprising! It could not have been more vibrant, with cherry tomato slices, nuts, fabulous greens, etc. This. Salad. Was. Amazing. I don't know what the dine-in experience is like, but I can guarantee that the food will leave you stuffed and yet wanting more. Hopefully you have a good friend with you who knows when you've had enough.

My bf and I had little star as take out so i can't comment on much about the service here. We did call around 8ish and they quoted us 30 mins, for the pizza to be ready. When i got to little star to pick up the pizza, it had just come out because the boxes were so warm!! Small CLassic: 5/5: WOW, i love this pizza! The crust was not at all soggy or greasy, it had a thick, cornmeal like crust which was delicious. It also had a good amount of sauce where it didn't make the pizza soggy or hard to hold. When i had patxis it was the exact opposite of little star. over sauced, too little toppings and a soggy crust. The toppings were plentiful, i can say i got plenty of meat , sauce and cheese in the pizza. It was better than what i had anticipated. Definitely coming back here for pizza again. Garlic bread: 4/5: Delicious! i like that it looked like a pizza and that it was cheesy, but i wish there was a bit more garlic. Some pieces that they cut had no cheese and no garlic. Even distribution would be nice. But overall, really good garlic bread! I would probably do takeout again, just cause the parking situation in this neighborhood is terrible. also the wait probably would have been long on a saturday night because the place isn't too big. Definitely coming back for more pizza! Total for 2: $30

Not that this place needs any more glowing reviews (I mean, they only have 2,300+ reviews!)... but I wanted to throw my two cents in since I feel very strongly about pizza. As someone who recently moved from Chicago, I'm supposed to "know" what good "deep dish" is. Alright, sure I do. But, I'll admit... *whispers* I actually prefer California-style or New York-style pizza. *ahem* Anyway, having said that, my boyfriend and I went in the other night to Little Star. Knowing I'm not wild about deep dish (I'm an Angeleno), my boyfriend (who is a native Chicagoan) was happy to know I was pleased with Little Star. First off, for deep dish pizza, this met the requirement of being hearty. Yet Little Star managed to pull off the near-impossible(!): hearty but not disgustingly heavy. Let me break this down... the crust was slightly buttery, slightly golden, but not drenched in butter like the "typical" deep dish pizzas of Chicago. (I mean, those are downright pies -- which, again, many Chicagoans love but I do not.) Secondly, the deep dish (we ordered the classic) filling had the right proportions of cheese, tomato sauce, sausage, onion, and bell pepper. In other words, there wasn't one ingredient (technically, they aren't "toppings" since this isn't CA or NY style) that dominated. My boyfriend and I split a small 9" pizza (six slices). We wound up eating 3 slices each which - for deep dish pizza - sounds like quite the feat, but again, this was light enough where we needed to eat all three to be full. Personally, I think this is a good thing. I'll say it once more... Little Star managed to do the impossible: eat lots of deep dish without feeling gross afterward. In terms of service, Little Star also delivered! No, not deliver pizza (*womp womp* insert bad joke). Little Star provided all-star service! Upon entering, the hostess took my cell number and said we'd be texted when our table was ready (she quoted us 35 minutes... it took about 25 that night). She was friendly and sat us at the bar (though I do wish she would've let us know we'd be taking seats at the bar). Our server was also the restaurant's bartender. She was friendly and checked in on us at all the right times. I didn't feel like she was lurking or un-attentive. I also ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc which went well with the pizza. The restaurant itself has no cohesive decorative theme. In fact, it's unclassifiable. It's modern yet vintage and then there are relics of random nostalgic toys and figurines hanging on shelves (especially near the bar area). I couldn't make sense of it, but somehow, this mishmash of design didn't distract from the experience. Lastly, this place can get pretty loud (I mean us millennials can't shut up even with all our smart phones). I wouldn't suggest bringing your folks visiting town here. Unless they thrive off high decibels and occasional bursts of screams, shouts, and laughter, they shouldn't dine here. Save Little Star for your friends' night out or (like in my case) a meal with your boo. Aaaand finally, while they are known for their deep dish, I'd like to come back to try their thin crust (or as my Chicago-born boyfriend jokes, "California and New York flatbreads") (Psh!). We made a deal: I tried the deep dish for him, he needs to try the thin crust for me. This is what happens when a Southern Californian and a Midwesterner are in a relationship.

I've been on some sort of pizza craze constant crave lately, so last night I ventured over to Little Star to try their deep dish pizza. We ordered the spring mixed salad and the classic deep dish pizza with added roasted garlic. (For some reason I've also been oh so into garlic :)) I also ordered their pear cider($5) which was soo good. it reminded me of the fruity flavored kombucha. The spring mixed salad was tasty and refreshing - topped with walnuts, gorgonzola cheese (mm), cherry tomatoes and chopped onions. For the pizza, I enjoyed it but I wasn't amazed. Maybe I had high expectations due to the price ($20 for a small which has 6 deep dish slices) or maybe I'm not used to seeing SF prices for food. Customer service was excellent though :)

I'm normally a fan of thin crust pizza but tried a deep dish here for the first time and all I have to say is WOW! It was amazing! The restaurant has a dark and cozy feel to it and the service is good. Our pizza took a little longer than usual to be prepared and the manager came over to apologize and gave us a 50% discount cause of the wait which was cool.

Deep Dish Pizza is the star attraction of Little Star, but the starburst wasn't the depth of the pizza pie ... the stars were the startlingly delish crust and toppings. While one huge Little Star Pizza obliterated my starvation, I was left a little starstruck by the friendliness of the starlet Hostess, a spicy starter of Chicken Wings, and a deep-dish pizza destined for stardom. Star light, star bright, At Little Star Pizza tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might Have the Deep Dish I wish tonight A Large Deep Dish Pizza ($25) -- half Classic (Sausage, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, and Onions) and half the Daily Special (Meatballs & Ricotta) -- was recommended by the hostess who placed the order prior to seating us. These 2 inch pizzas do take a little time. She was cool. The pizza was cooler. Our small group agreed the Meatball side was the better of the two. The the crust was near perfect ... strong and dry enough to hold the hefty toppings while soft enough to be delicious. (4 stars) Spicy Chicken Wings ($11) was our appetizer. The wings were a little spicy. A single order was full pound of Wings served with a few Baby Carrots and basic Blue Cheese Dressing. (4 stars) Parking meters were turned off on the street the evening we went, so, it surprisingly was easy to find a spot. Good luck. Little Star Pizza is a little pizza joint with some big pizzas and totally worthy of four little twinkling stars.

After trying pizza Delfina a while ago, I decided I wanted to try more pizza places, and Little Star Pizza seemed to rank pretty high up there. I walked in with my friend, and we were in our sneakers and casual attire. To our surprise, this place has a classy, dimly lit ambiance, with candles adorning every table. Definitely seems like a nice date place. We were torn between the deep dish classic and deep dish little star pizza, so we ended up with a small 9 inch deep dish with half of each! It took a grueling 30 minutes for it to be made, so we ordered an appetizer of garlic bread as well. Overall, the pizza and garlic bread were both delicious! I preferred the classic to the little star though. The little star was a little too cheesy for my taste, but both were great! I would love to come back!

This is a tiny loud place - The tables are so close together, it's almost like community dining. However, their Chicago-style pizzas are amazing! It's almost as good as Zachs in Oakland. Will definitely visit again.

This place is mmmm mmmmm good. If asked to pick between Little Star, Patxi's, and Zachary's, I would honestly take any of the three! I went to the Divis location on a weekday and there was no wait - always a bonus point in my book. Three of us shared a deep-dish pizza (I think it was the vegetarian or Mediterranean combo) and a large salad. Both were fabulous and it was plenty of food for us (me + two hungry dudes). The decor and ambiance is nothing special, but I think the quality of the food and service count for more.

Unique pizza option. This is a cornmeal crust, saucy, complex pie. You literally will be fine eating just one slice. Okay but you gotta have another slice (it's so good). Alright, alright, one more. Whoops, you exploded. Start over.

HANDS DOWN BEST DEEP DISH PIZZA IN THE SAN FRANCISCO/BAY AREA. Little Star is to me is like what the holy Mecca is to the Muslims. -- and after a good year or so of stuffing my cheeks with their delish deep dish, I've found the perfect words to describe my affinity for Little Star's 'Classic' (Sausage, mushroom, onions & green bellpeppers) DD pizza. You know how every Deep Dish place has their niche? Little Star's DD has the best crust my tongue has ever laid its buds on. The cornmeal crust is like the annoyingly, consistent Employee of the Month; doin' it's job of soaking in all those flavors from the sauce + toppings. The cheesiness and marinara sauce are well-balanced. Like damn, hitting it out of the ballpark every time. 4 for you, Glen Coco! You best believe I nor anyone I've eaten here with has left a crumb on their plate. It's the first pizza I've had where dousing it in Sriracha (my usual for pizza/any food, really) NEVER crossed my mind. That's saying plenty. This is my ideal date night spot, as the place has a solid mood light game going on. Heck, I wouldn't mind being PROPOSED here one day (it's all about sentiment people, a pizza parlor can have just as much romance as the Eiffel Tower). A girl can dream, right?

The most amazing deep dish pizza I've ever had. I've only ever gotten the take out and even having to take a somewhat long bus ride there and back, the pizza was the best tasting deep dish ever to enter my mouth. The crust is an amazing cornmeal crust which you really wouldn't mind eating, and the toppings/sauce are exquisite. Sometimes it does take a couple of tries to get through to the store when you're calling during the busy hours, but the pizza is always ready at the quoted time. I can't wait for my next visit!!

We walked in to Little Star Pizza after a long day of travel and were almost knocked off our feet with the delicious-smelling tomato sauce inside. The payoff once we ordered and got our food (a half traditional, half chicken deep dish pizza) did not disappoint. I was a big fan of the crust, which was really tasty and not as greasy as traditional deep-dish pizzas. We also had a caprese-style tomato/basil/mozza salad which really hit the spot. Top it off with excellent casual but professional service. I would go again for sure.

I'm usually skeptical about going out and ordering pizzas since we can get pizza for a cheaper price, but you have got to try the deep dish! The deep dish pizza was to die for. My boyfriend constantly craves it and we are definitely returning. Around the area, there are also little shops that you could walk around in. This place is on my top pizza locations!

Per the recommendation of my good friend, Jonathan R., and fellow pizza lovers on Yelp. Little Star Pizza was an absolute must try if you're in the SF area. Since taking a cab wasn't an option, we opted to find parking and walk. An hour later and several blocks walking, we were on our way to make pizza eating history. The restaurant was completely packed. Every seat at every table was full and luckily we got the last spot in the back of the room. After a few minutes of perusing the menu, I needed to make an executive decision: deep dish v thin crust, and I'm terrible under pressure. I stumbled and stammered on my words and annoyed the waitress a bit before settling. It was a difficult decision but choosing just one style of pizza was never an option. "We'll have both!", I exclaimed. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I walked away without trying one or the other. My Yelp-guilt got to me! The thin crust Greek comes with spinach, black olives, roasted garlic, feta, and sun-dried tomatoes. This is a phenomenal pizza combination. If you even slightly love these ingredients, do not allow yourself to go on eating until you try it. Trust me on this one! The classic deep dish is loaded with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green bell pepper. We substituted the green bells for roasted garlic and I highly recommend it! I love this pizza! I've eaten deep dish pizza from all over the country, but in my humble opinion, even Chicago's was never this good. The crust was amazing, buttery, crispy, light yet hearty, and my taste buds danced with joy. Serious pizza here, folks. I'd be lying if I told you one was better than the other. Both pizzas set the bar so high, I can honestly say, Little Star Pizza is in my top 3. It wasn't the abundance of food, but the excellence which these pies were created. So much win, so much love. There's just no other way to compare how I feel about a great pie and Little Star stole my pizza loving heart.

Very good! Come early for a table, even on a Sunday night. Delicious pizzas (both thin crust and deep dish), reasonable price, and nice ambiance.

I get it, I get it, Little Star is a big star in the Alamo hood. Just check out the wait times. But hey, they're worth it. I am normally not a huge fan of deep dish pizza, but I think just because it's called pizza. It should clearly be called Cheese and Tomato Pie, don't you agree? I did, however, reluctantly go for the cavernous pie, and I was pleasantly surprised. Good sausage to cheese to salty crust ratio, but again. Not. A. Pizza. The atmosphere is wooden and dark, and perfect. Definitely a date spot. We sidled up to the bar, and had their ginger champagne cocktails and wings while we waited, both were excellent. Be aware the hot wings are more of a dry rub, but they have a nice kick and are nice and juicy. You know how I feel about the pizza. Mr. Big Star/ Who do you think you are/ SF Little Star/ Lalala la laaaa

Been meaning to try this place for the longest time and finally had the chance to. Came on a Friday night around 7, luckily we found parking right away. Sat and waited about 30-45 minutes for a party of 4. Seated and ordered the spicy chicken wings, a deep dish large brass monkey pizza, and the thin crust large italian combo small pizza. Was debating on getting 2 larges but the waiter was nice enough to say I think that would be too much food (which is nice of him, cause he really didn't have to). The chicken wings were alright, kind of forgettable... but I guess they aren't known for their chicken wings. I've never had a deep dish pizza so this was my first and it did not disappoint. Sure, it was hard to eat (I just gave up and ate with my fork) but it was pretty good. I'm not a huge pizza fan, so I can't go into too much detail, but it was definitely pretty good and worth the wait... I can see why some people go crazy over this place. The Italian combo pizza was good too... just because it had a variety of toppings that complimented each other. Deep dish or thin crust... I think I'm more of a thin crust kind of guy... just because I felt like I was eating a quiche while I was eating the deep dish pizza. May come back to try the little star pizza (but it's basically the same as brass monkey except there is sauage in it) and other pizzas. Worth a try if you're not starving and willing to wait a bit for some pizza!

Ice cold beer and deep dish pizza. You can't go wrong with this place. I walked in and swooped a table for two immediately even though the place was really busy. The atmosphere is cozy, classy and low key. The waitress was very attentive and genuinely friendly. She explained that the special was some kind of squash pizza. Not really my style but it sounds interesting and i was kinda curious to see what that would look like. We ordered a large deep dish with Sun dried Tomatoes , Chicken, Sausage and Extra Mozzarella. It was impressive, this thing had some girth lol. I ordered an Arrogant Bastard and the combo between the two was nice. We all know how strong that beer is. Serving it with Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza is perfect because I had to stay sober for my drive home later and it kept me on point for the night. My one recommendation would be a larger table for two near the back. With a large pizza, drinks, water, shakers, plates etc... My table was super crowded and i was worried about knocking stuff over. I talk with my hands and i'm clumsy I highly recommend this place and I like the neighborhood. Going back ASAP

Hands down my favorite place to get deep dish pizza! The bf and I love coming here. The wait is so worth it! We always get a small "Classic" with chicken instead of the sausage. The small is definitely enough for 2. But, today we got a large and obviously had some slices leftover to take home. We've also tried the mixed greens salad in the past and it's pretty standard. Their wings are decent. You really can't go wrong with their deep dish though. I love their sauce and the ingredients are fresh every time. Always a winner in our book! As far as drinks are concerned, the bf usually gets an Arrogant Bastard beer and recently I tried the Hey Kool-Aid champagne cocktail and it was alright. Parking can be difficult. It takes us on average 20-30 mins to find parking. The longest we've ever had to wait was 30 mins. Don't be dissuaded by the long wait for a table. I feel like some people are impatient once they hear that they have to wait for an hour or longer and they just walk away. That just gives others the chance to get seated faster. We were once told that the wait for a table for 2 was going to be an hour and 15 mins. But, they texted us within 30 mins and a table had opened up for us. So, don't give up right away. I mean, what else is there left to say that hasn't already been said? This place is great and their deep dish is amazing, granted I haven't had deep dish anywhere else. But, I don't mind staying loyal to this place. The service is always good too and I think it's neat how they send you a text when your table opens up if you aren't waiting inside. Hurry, you won't be disappointed!

It's a good thing this place was near eh place my friends and I were staying at because their pizza was really great! We were yelping pizza places one night and noticed the 2,000+ reviews of this place. We read some of the reviews and were convinced to try it out; good thing we called early enough to do a pick up before they closed. We ordered two large deep dish pizzas--- Classic and Mediterranean and a side do garlic bread. Pretty darn expensive pizzas but then again their pizza was hearty and big. About one and a half can fill you up. I really liked the Mediterranean one so I will definitely order that one again in the future There was 5 of us and we had hella leftovers the next morning but it was really good leftovers!

We went here with a group of six, and they accommodated us in a short period of time. Best of all, the pizza is excellent. When someone in the group suggested eating pizza, there was a lot of resistance. They were probably all imagining Domino's or Pizza Hut. But at the end of the meal, all the naysayers were basically admitting what a great idea it was to go. We ordered a deep dish pizza that had spinach, ricotta, and a tasty tomato sauce topping the pizza. We also ordered one with regular crust that was topped with basics (mushroom, pepperoni, etc.) Both were delicious. I will admit that I ate a piece of three-day old pizza last night from this place, and it still tasted good. Little Star Pizza gets five stars from me!

I'm sorry to be a downer. The service was cool the ambience was great. I friggen loved the cheese bread, but the deep dish pizza wasn't that great. The price point was a little higher than your average pizza, but still within the range of a decent date meal. I didn't like that while it was cold & rainy & instead of there being a heater on they've got a fan running... Why? Let's stick to what really matters though, the food. If not for the cheese bread this place wouldn't have been worth the trip. The sauce on the deep dish wasn't good. I'm a big sauce guy. I love making my own sauces & trying pretty much any sauce there is. The sauce on their deep dish was lame. Plan on spending $30-45 for dinner for two, stick to thin crust. Other than that, this place was okay. The problem is that there are other cheaper & tastier date spots. In a city full of choices, this one sits just above average on the scale. CHAD

Solid deep dish, but not the best I've had--even outside Chicago. Crust was by far the best part! I thought they were a little stingy on the ingredients though... I could taste so much tomato sauce and had to look for the sausage. That's a quick fix! I ate half a small pizza and wasn't even that full, surprisingly. (They said small pizzas are for 2-3 people, and larges are for 3-4 people... But those are for not-hungry people or for lunchtime appetites.) Decently priced for deep dish though! I was waiting for friends, and they told me I couldn't sit until everyone was there, even though the place was half-empty. Rules are rules, I suppose. My waitress kept avoiding eye contact with me, even though I was thanking her every time and she would just walk away. Very strange. Pretty cozy place though. I'd definitely come back if they would fill their deep dish a little more.

Pizza heaven. We tried a small deep dish with half Little Star and half Mediterranean Chicken. I can't decide which side I liked better because they were both phenomenal. It costs $1 extra for two kinds on one pizza and be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for your pie to cook. The space is small but we did not have to wait too long for a Saturday night.

This is the best damn pizza I've ever had. Before I came here, I had never eaten a deep dish pizza. I've always been a fan of thin crusts. I'm came here in 2012 and I was blown away by the awesomeness of three pepperoni pizza. When friends ask what they should do and see in San Francisco, I tell them to go here. So tasty.

It's a 3.5 star place for me, because... THE FOOD was simply good*. Not delicious, not just okay either but right in between. I probably wouldn't rush to come here again, but it's not like I would say no to it if a friend wanted to go. :) We had the deep dish classic with a few extra toppings. I'm personally not the biggest fan of deep dish pizzas because they are way too loaded for me, but my bf wanted the deep dish, so yeah... ;) They put a lot of tomato sauce on top of everything on the pizza, which for me was the biggest mistake. It overshadowed the other toppings a lot. THE STAFF was super nice! THE PLACE was casual but trendy. I liked it. THE PRICE was a bit too high. We wanted to share a large one and planned to take half home for the next day. On their website they say that the large one feeds 3-4 people. If that was true, the price of 26$ would be fine. However, the two of us almost ate the entire thing - we only had one piece left. Good for groups up to four people! *My Food Ratings: Mindblowing Delicious Okay Not good Horrible

My girlfriend and I are in from Chicago and were looking for a good bite our first night in town. Although skeptical, we decided on Little Star, even though we eat enough pizza in the Windy City.... Holy cow are we happy we took the plunge. The hour wait on a Tuesday at 7 were well worth it when we had our pizza. Ordered a little star with sausage and it was incredible. I can't think of a better slice of pizza I've ever had - Lou Malnatis and Giordanos are great but should take a few notes from these west coast geniuses.

The deep dish crust is deeeee-licious! The pizza was pretty good, but that crust is what I'm still thinking about. We got the large deep dish classic and it fed my husband, two toddlers, and myself with three pieces left over. No need to get your own unless you want to take it all home. (Just consider every piece twice the amount of a normal-sized slice.) The ingredients were fresh, the pizza was flavorful, and my husband says it's the best deep dish he's ever had.

Every time I walk down Divisadero, I've nearly missed it for it's lack of display. Only one sign gives it away. Little Star PIzza doesn't require any marketing, I suppose. The recommendation of many San Franciscans as I've come to learn, had left me with little choice but to try this place. While parking in this neighborhood may not be easy, consider parking a few blocks down or around. Be sure to bring your friends, but not your bosses. The Caprese Salad: You'll find that the basil in this salad over powers much of the rest, as the other ingredients are more for texture than taste. The Caprese ends up being a good start for those who want a little bite rather than leafy greens. It isn't too oily as well, which I absolutely loved about this appetizer. The deep dish Mediterranean Chicken: Served in the famed Chicago deep dish style that may resemble Zachary's across town or in Berkeley, you'll find that this pizza pie will fill you up and more. Being good enough for two to three hungry guys the pie took a while to arrive to our table during a busy pre-dinner hour. You'll note the pie is filled with sauce that may ooze from your mouth as you try to fork and knife your way through it. The bread on the pizza pie isn't too thick, and so that leaves plenty of room for all the chicken, artichoke hearts and onions. While I may have left with bad breath, I can safely say my stomach was given some comfort food. Little Star Pizza is a gem, and among all the pizza joints in Bay Area this one sticks out. You can tell they want to stick to a small menu because they focus on a craft, and that is to make really amazing pizzas.

Little Star continues to shine in this neighborhood and City! The service is amazing, food consistently good, and they have a great beer selection. Moreover, Little Star never disappoints. They now take credit cards and have a delivery service that is prompt and inexpensive.

My boyfriend and I were hungry after checking out the Painted Ladies, and followed the Yelp reviews to Little Star Pizza! We were the first to arrive, as they just opened for lunch. We ordered the Caprese Salad that came with plenty balsamic vinegar and olive oil, rustic bread, green and calamata olives, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. We ordered the 9" deep dish classic + pepperoni thinking we wanted a "light" lunch...well, we were wrong! This filled us up, but our stomachs were happy. The crust was delicious, and I don't like crust. It wasn't soggy or greasy like most deep dish pizzas I've had. The red sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the proportion of the toppings was well balanced. A+ for service too!

Came here because of outrageous reviews. Came and was put on the wait list which was not bad because we got parking right out front and waited in the car. They have a great waiting system that uses text to tell you how long your wait is - very convenient. The service there is a1. I liked the pizza it was different the corn meal crust is great however I didn't care to much for the sauce it was too much for me. It's a tad pricey but if you like this style of pizza you will most likely love it. I would definitely come back again to try a different dish.

This place is awesome! The chicken wings are a must and the small green salad is AMAZING! It's perfect for two or even three people. Catch them during happy hour. For a perfect meal for two...grab an order of chicken wings and a small salad. Your satisfied without the guilt.

Cozy and dimly lit environment, yet with a casual feel. Great place to take friends out or have a date. I ordered their deep dish pizza with a combination of two toppings. Surprisingly, I wasn't full after finishing it. The deep dish pizza is refreshing because it isn't incredibly heavy, but at the same time, it doesn't feel like a deep dish because it's too light. However, the cornbreaded crust was fantastic. The taste and texture was like a healthier and fresher version of the crust on a pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Great service, great ambiance, good food, despite not being as filling as one would expect. 3.5 stars.

Had the special deep dish pizza. It was packed with meat, fresh and flavorful marinara sauce, and the other veggies. It was definitely heavier than thin crisps but not overbearing. Parking is bad for this place. I dont know about calling this place a must try in SF but it is very very good.
